MTV CLASSIC Rebranding by The Holograms

Apr 08th 2010

Paris based directing trio The Holograms follow up their collaboration with MTV by designing a set of five 80’s retrofuturistic idents for MTV CLASSIC. These idents are part of the MTV’s global rebrand by Universal Everything, cementing the channel's reputation as a powerhouse of youth-oriented programming and creative output. The aim is to continue and enhance the innovative spirit of MTV's 27 year legacy, and to establish a coherent brand language across 160 different countries spanning 31 languages including Japanese, Russian and Chinese. An ongoing series of unique idents have risen from the new manifesto. The Holograms are currently working on another set of idents for MTV BASE. Post production’s been done at Mathematic Studio in Paris, where the boys have their offices.

Holograms X La Roux

May 11th 2009

UFO have just finished production on the latest promo for the UKʼs newest rising electropop act, La Roux. For the release of "Bulletproof", their latest single from the number one selling album, "In for the Kill", the video has an altogether different feel from the 80ʼs throughback style her previous videos had. Polydor Recordʼs commissioners Ross Anderson and Emily Tedrake, as well as the artist herself (aka Elly Jackson) and her management team picked Paris based directing team The Holograms treatment out of a wide selection of ideas submitted for the contested track. The brief was to create something unique and nothing literal to the songs lyrics. Holograms directors specifically wanted to work on a new aesthetic for the young singer so developed a treatment using their influence in motiongraphic design as a basis. The result is a modern day Alice in Wonderland, constructed using geometric shapes and graphics, in which La Roux travels through 4 different universes.
