In 1998 Les Télécréateurs brought together BMG and ARTE to develop a series of 6 animated short films. A carte blanche was given to six directors who could choose a music track they like in the BMG World Music catalogue :
"Le Cigare" by Rémi Malingrëy, inspired by
Orquesta Aragon ;
"Les Marins" by Lorenzo Recio, inspired by
Erik Marchand ;
"Le Sacre"
by Bertrand Mandico, inspired by
Bonga ;
"Le Safari"
by Aline Ahond,
inspired by
Sally Nyolo ;
"La Tempête"
by Bertrand Mandico
& Aline Ahond,
inspired by
Glaz ;
"Les Voleurs"
by Lorenzo Recio,
inspired by
Carlos Nunez.
All six films were in heavy rotation all summer long, and BMG edited a special compilation CD.
"La Tempête" received both a Gold Award (seasonal and special events) and a Silver Award (for animation) at the 1999 Promax.
